eMindful Continues To Expand Leadership Team While Pioneering New Corporate Wellness Solutions

Company Hires Veteran Healthcare Marketing Executive Kevin Renner To Lead Market Growth

eMindful, the provider of mindfulness-based wellness programs for employers, continues to expand its leadership team with the addition of industry marketing veteran Kevin Renner. Renner brings to the company more than 20 years in senior marketing, business development, product management, and client management roles with health care and technology companies.

As senior vice president of marketing and product management, he holds responsibility for increasing the company’s market penetration and expanding its channel partner relationships with healthcare brokers, consultants and other wellness companies. Renner has helped grow six Inc.-500 firms and two global public companies. Among these are Epic Systems Corp., the largest provider of electronic medical record systems; MedicaLogic (acquired by GE Medical); Empyrean Benefits Solutions; WellMed (acquired by WebMD); Counsel on Call; FEI, the global leader in nanotechnology imaging solutions; and Entrada, a dictation-to-electronic medical records platform.

“In the past few years I’ve seen eMindful emerge as the clear front-runner in delivering a portfolio of applied mindfulness programs focused on some of the biggest health, cost, and productivity problems facing employers,” Renner said. “Having clients such as Aetna’s CEO Mark Bertolini advocate nationally his company’s results with eMindful’s programs convinced me that this is the next frontier of corporate wellness. When Bridge Builders Collaborative invested late last year, I saw the opportunity to expand this brand to serve a global opportunity.”

Prior to joining eMindful, Renner worked across a portfolio of companies with Cambia Direct Health Solutions, a private equity division of Cambia Health Solutions. Cambia is a $7 billion company serving about 2 million members across the western US. Renner received his MBA from the University of California at Berkeley and attended the executive marketing program at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

eMindful continues to receive acclaim for its evidence-based programs and for its affiliations with major research institutions such as Duke Integrative Medicine. The company offers programs addressing stress, metabolic disorder, smoking, diabetes, chronic pain and cancer.

Mindfulness practice is becoming mainstream as companies see the benefits in the form of higher productivity, lower healthcare costs and healthier employees. In recent weeks eMindful’s work with Aetna has been prominently covered by the New York Times and CBS This Morning.

About eMindful
eMindful’s evidence-based wellness and disease management programs have been adopted by leading employers and health insurers such as NextEra Energy and Aetna to help target today’s biggest health cost drivers – stress, obesity, diabetes, smoking, cancer, and other conditions. The company’s Mindfulness at Work® program was recognized by the National Business Group on Health for innovation. Since 2007, eMindful’s corporate partners have averaged estimated savings of $8 for every $1 spent, reducing their healthcare costs while improving employees’ productivity, health and happiness. eMindful members have experienced results including 22 percent improved sleep, 37 percent decreased stress, 59 percent reversal of metabolic syndrome, and 40 percent success in smoking cessation.
