Mindful Care of ADHD Course Information - Two Hour Online Lecture
What is a Mindful Care of ADHD?
Comprehensive care of patients with ADHD involves the objective examination of appropriate medical, behavioral and educational interventions. Research has repeatedly shown the benefits of mindfulness-based stress reduction, and it can be an important part of ADHD care for patients and their families. Mindfulness can improve executive function and attention, reduce stress and promote cognitive flexibility in problem solving. It fosters emotional well being by helping people break maladaptive mental habits that perpetuate difficult behaviors, and facilitates the development of healthy relationships. Parents make better choices involving their children when they learn how to manage their own stress more skillfully.
This two hour workshop will review research into the neuroscience of mindfulness training as it relates to ADHD, describe evidence-based clinical applications and demonstrate simple mindfulness exercises.
